Convert TSV to CSV

Turn TSV, tab-separated values, the no-quoting cousin of CSV, into CSV, comma-separated values, the universal tabular data format. FileChanger runs the spreadsheet conversion in one call, no local tooling to install.

In the browser

Upload a file and download the result, no pipeline required. Open the converter.

One API call

POST the file with from=tsv and to=csv, get the converted bytes back. Jump to the code.

From an agent

FileChanger ships an MCP server, so agents can run this conversion themselves. See the docs for setup.

Convert TSV to CSV in code

The same call from any language: POST the file to /api/convert, the response body is the converted file.

curl -X POST https://filechanger.io/api/convert \
  -H "X-Api-Key: fc_your_api_key_here" \

  -F "from=tsv" \
  -F "to=csv" \
  -o output.csv

About CSV

CSV (comma-separated values) is the lowest common denominator of tabular data: one line per row, one comma between fields, readable by every spreadsheet, database, and scripting language anyone has written. It carries no formatting, formulas, or cell types, which is exactly why it survives as the interchange format between systems that agree on nothing else.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert TSV to CSV?

Upload your file in the browser converter and pick CSV as the target, or POST it to /api/convert with from=tsv and to=csv. The response body is the converted file.

Is converting TSV to CSV free?

Yes. Every account gets 200 MB of conversions free, metered on input size. After that you pay only for what you convert, from $0.10 per GB, with no monthly fee. See pricing for the paid tiers.

Is there an API for TSV to CSV conversion?

Yes, this whole conversion is one POST to /api/convert (the code examples above show it in five languages), plus an MCP server so AI agents can run it directly.

What does the CSV output look like?

Any cell containing a comma, a double quote, or a line break is quoted on the way out, so the file reads back into a spreadsheet or a parser exactly as it went in.
